Harold Brunson joined Able Company, 24th Marines as a replacement after the Tinian campaign. He was a BAR gunner, and one of the youngest Marines to serve with the battalion.
Brunson was killed in action on February 25, 1945, during the battle of Iwo Jima. He was buried in Plot 1, Row 26, Grave 1258 of the Fourth Marine Division cemetery; after the war, he was reburied in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL.
