James DeNicola served as a rifleman in Able Company at its inception. He fought on Namur, and after that battle was given command of a fire team.
DeNicola was wounded on June 23, 1944, during the battle of Saipan. He was transferred to Naval Hospital #10; when his wounds proved too serious to allow a return to combat, DeNicola was transferred to Casual Company #3 at the Oakland, California naval hospital.
DeNicola was discharged as a private first class. He died in Ohio in 1998.
