With Dog Company:

Clifford Devoy served as a machine gunner with Dog Company, 24th Marines. He fought on Namur, and was reassigned to Able Company when his unit was dissolved in March, 1944.

With Able Company:

Devoy was promoted to corporal in the spring of 1944, and put in charge of a machine gun squad. He was wounded on June 22, 1944, during the battle of Saipan. Because of his injury, he did not participate in the battle of Tinian.

He was returned to Able Company, promoted to sergeant, and led a new squad through the battle of Iwo Jima.

Devoy eventually returned to the United States, and died in Florida in 1982.
