Charles Etty joined Able Company in the fall of 1944. He served as a BAR gunner in one of the rifle platoons.

PFC Etty landed on Iwo Jima; he was killed in action on February 20, 1945. He was buried in Grave 350, Row 7, Plot 1 of the 4th Marine Division Cemetery. After the war, Etty's remains were removed to Oak Ridge Cemetery, Orange County, Florida.
