With Dog Company:
PFC William Peck was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He served as a heavy machine gun crewman in the First Platoon.
After fighting in the battle of Namur, Peck was transferred to Able Company.
With Able Company:
Peck became one of the messengers for Able Company's newly formed machine gun platoon. He was slightly wounded in a Saipan ambush on June 22, but returned to duty within days and kept fighting through the remainder of the Marianas campaign. In the fall of 1944, Peck was promoted to corporal and placed in command of his own squad.
Corporal Peck led his own machine gun team into action on Iwo Jima, where he was wounded on February 24, 1945. He was evacuated aboard the USS Berrien and did not return to combat.
Peck's further service is unknown.
