With Dog Company:

Peter Pecori joined Dog Company, 24th Marines on December 11, 1943, having just completed his training at MCB San Diego. He served as a member of a heavy machine gun crew with the First Platoon during training at Camp Pendleton and in combat on the island of Namur.

In the spring of 1944, Pecori transferred to the machine gun platoon of Able Company.

With Able Company:

Pecori served as a gunner for his squad on Saipan and during the landing on Tinian; he was wounded within hours of landing on July 24, 1944, and was evacuated for treatment. Upon his return to the unit, he was promoted to corporal and placed in command of a squad.

Corporal Pecori was wounded a second time while fighting on Iwo Jima; he was evacuated from the front on March 9, 1945, and sent to be hospitalized. He did not return to combat; his further service is unknown.

Peter Pecori died in Brevard, Florida, in 1993.
