Corporal William Comer joined Able Company on September 1, 1943. He had previously served with the Headquarters Company at Parris Island; his new assignment found him leading a fire team with one of the company's rifle platoons. Comer fought on Namur, and was promoted to sergeant in the spring of 1944.
Comer went into action on Saipan as a squad leader. He was badly wounded on July 8, 1944; after his subsequent evacuation, he never returned to combat. His further service is unknown.
