Darrell Bayes joined Baker Company on February 24, 1945. He had previously served with the 30th Replacement Draft.
Bayes survived the war unwounded, and returned to Ohio. He settled in Defiance, married Eleanor Knox, and raised a family. Bayes ran his own auto repair shop, and taught at a local vocational school for several years.
Darrell Bayes died in 2006 and is buried in the Farmer Cemetery in his hometown.
