Noble Bowers was a pre-war Marine. Barely 16 when he enlisted, Bowers served with Company B, 16th Battalion USMC Reserve in Indianapolis, close to his hometown.
Eventually, Bowers came to serve with Baker Company, 24th Marines. He was wounded and evacuated from Iwo Jima on February 21, 1945.
After the war, Bowers returned to Elkhart, where he died in 1997. He is buried in Adamsville Cemetery,
