Edward Brasus was one of the original Marines assigned to Baker Company, 24th Marines. He fell ill in October, 1943; after his release from the hospital, he was deemed unfit for combat duty. Brasus was reassigned to stateside duty at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Crane, Indiana.

He died in Chicago in 1965.
