Breslin was promoted to Private First Class on January 11, and shortly thereafter boarded ship for the Kwajalein operation. He survived unwounded, and traveled to Camp Maui with his company in the spring of 1944.

PFC Breslin was killed on the second day of the battle for Saipan. While his remains were listed as "unknown" on the battalion's muster roll, Breslin was eventually laid to rest in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Plot C, Grave 183.
