Frank Bruile was an original member of Baker Company, 24th Marines. He carried ammunition for a light Browning machine gun in the company weapons platoon.

Bruile fought through the battle of Namur and the majority of the Saipan campaign. He was badly wounded on July 10, 1944, as his company performed mop-up duties. Bruile was evacuated, and was transferred to a navy hospital later that month.

PFC Bruile did not return to combat. He died in Cleveland in 1978.
