Casper was discharged from the Marines in 1946. He worked as a machinist and insurance representative in Texas for a few years; in 1950 he married Anabelle Jones and shortly thereafter enlisted in the National Guard. Casper managed a clothing store at Perrin Air Force Base; later he moved to Sheppard AFB in Texas.

After retiring in 1984, Casper moved back to Oklahoma. He spent his twilight years in Parsons, Kansas, where he died in 2008.
