With Dog Company:

Charles Brown was an original member of Company D, 24th Marines. He was rated a PFC and carried ammunition for a heavy machine gun in the company's second platoon. Brown served through the battle of Namur, and was transferred to Baker Company in March, 1944.

With Baker Company:

PFC Brown served as an ammunition carrier through the battles of Saipan and Tinian without a scratch.

He was transferred out of the company prior to the invasion of Iwo Jima.

Note: a Private Charles Brown appears on the rolls of Able Company for the battle of Iwo Jima; however, it is not known definitively if these are the same man.
