Clifford Cederleaf was an original member of Baker Company. He was rated a private when the company was created, and carried a rifle in one of the front line platoons. Cederleaf was promoted to Private First Class on January 11, 1944; two days later, he shipped out aboard the USS DuPage for combat on Namur.

Cederleaf survived the battle of Namur, and returned to Camp Maui with the battalion. He trained for the battle of Saipan, but was badly wounded on June 15, 1944, only hours after landing.

PFC Cederleaf was transferred to a Naval hospital in July, 1944, and did not return to the battalion.

He died in North Carolina in 2008.
