David Colbert joined Baker Company in the fall of 1944.
He was wounded the day after his twenty-third birthday while fighting on Iwo Jima. Colbert was evacuated from the battle and did not return to combat.
After the war, Colbert returned to California and eventually settled in San Mateo.
