Private Raymond Cook served as a machine gunner in Baker Company, 24th Marines. He was present when the company was formed, fought in the battle of Namur, and was promoted to Private First Class in the spring of 1944.
Cook participated in the fighting on Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima. He was wounded and evacuated from Iwo on February 25, 1945.
