Milton Cooper was born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1918. Cooper decided to join the Marines at the age of eighteen; he traveled from his home in Florida to enlist at a Savannah office and was sent to Parris Island. After boot camp, he was assigned to school at MCB Quantico for several months; he eventually received a post as a corporal with an aviation unit in the Seventh Reserve District, near Charleston, South Carolina. While there, his mother Angeline passed away

With Baker Company:

Milton Cooper was the senior enlisted man in Baker Company. He served with the company headquarters, assisting the officers, attending to administrative matters, and handling issues and disputes with the enlisted men. He participated in the battles of Namur, Saipan, and Tinian, and was transferred out of the battalion in the fall of 1944.

He eventually settled in California, where he died in 2005. Cooper is buried in Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Oceanside.
