With Dog Company:

Everertt Eckert was one of the original heavy machine gunners in Dog Company, 24th Marines. He fought with the Second MG Platoon during the battle of Namur, and was transferred to Baker Company in March, 1944.

With Baker Company:

Eckert retained his position as a gunner with Baker Company's machine gun platoon. He landed on Saipan, but was wounded and evacuated on June 18, 1944. He did not return to the battalion.

 

Everett Eckert married Betty Jean Hostetler after the war; they had three children before his untimely death in 1963. He was 38 years old.
