With Dog Company:
Harry Gregg, a regular NCO, had already seeb combat by the time he arrived at the barracks of D Company. He had been wounded as a PFC and transferred to the new company to lend an experienced hand training the green Marines.
After the battle of Namur, Corporal Gregg was promoted to sergeant and transferred to Baker Company as a section leader.
With Baker Company:
The newly minted Sergeant Gregg led a section of guns in Baker Company's MG platoon through the battles of Saipan and Tinian.
He left the battalion in the fall of 1944 for unknown reasons.
