Stanley Karnes was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He served as an assistant cook with the company headquarters.
Karnes was promoted to Field Cook after the battle of Namur, and transferred to Baker Company in March, 1944.
With Baker Company:
Karnes saw action on Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima with Baker Company. He survived the war unwounded.
