With Dog Company:

James Naurot was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He was a gunner with the Second Machine Gun Platoon during the battle of Namur.

Naurot was transferred to Baker Company in March, 1944.

With Baker Company:

PFC Naurot continued to serve as a machine gunner through the battles of Saipan and Tinian. He was promoted to corporal in the fall of 1944, and likely led a squad on Iwo Jima.

Naurot was wounded and evacuated on February 21, 1945.
