Bernard Novak was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He served as a jeep driver, and was probably attached to the 81mm Mortar platoon.
Novak was transferred to Baker Company in March, 1944.
With Baker Company:
Novak was assigned to Baker Company's headquarters as a jeep driver. He served in that capacity until wounded and evacuated from Iwo Jima on February 20, 1945.
