With Charlie Company:

Charles Anderson joined Charlie Company, 24th Marines, after the battle of Tinian. He served as a platoon leader during training at Camp Maui, and landed on Iwo Jima with the company. Due to heavy losses among junior officers, Anderson was transferred to Baker Company on February 27, 1945.

With Baker Company:

Lieutenant Anderson led a platoon of Baker Company from February 27 until his death in action on March 6, 1945.

He is buried in Brule Cemetery in his Nebraska hometown.
