Walter Bailey was one of the original members of Charlie Company. He served as a BAR gunner in one of the rifle platoons.
Bailey fought in the battles of Namur and Saipan, where he was wounded on June 21, 1944. He was evacuated to a hospital ship; on July 8 he was transferred to a Navy hospital for treatment. Bailey did not return to the battalion.
