Raymond Bartlett was one of the original NCOs of Charlie Company. Although comparatively old for an enlisted man - he turned thirty before going overseas - Bartlett was an effective squad leader. After the battle of Namur, he received a promotion to sergeant.
Sergeant Bartlett was killed in action on Saipan on June 17, 1944. He was buried in Plot 24 of the Army Cemetery; after the war, his remains were interred in Vail Cemetery, Vail, Iowa.
