Private Charles Buckley was assigned to Charlie Company on December 11, 1943. He had just completed boot camp at MCRD San Diego, and was rated as a rifleman.

Buckley served through the battle of Namur, and was promoted to Private First Class in the spring of 1944. He carried a BAR into action on Saipan, where he was wounded on June 22, 1944.

Charles Buckley was evacuated from Saipan, and did not return to the battalion.
