Armando Calafrancisco, a pre-war regular Marine, joined Charlie Company as a squad leader in the fall of 1944.
He was wounded during the battle of Iwo Jima in March, 1945, and was sent to Naval Hospital #10 later that month. Calafrancisco did not return to combat.
