With Dog Company:
Corporal Frank Ciecierski was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He served as a squad leader in the Third Machine Gun Platoon during the battle of Namur.
In March, 1944, Ciecierski was transferred to Charlie Company.
With Charlie Company
Ciecierski became a squad leader with Charlie Company's machine gun platoon. He fought through the battle of Saipan and landed on Tinian, but was shot in the left side by a sniper on July 24th. The corporal was evacuated to a hospital to recover.
Frank Ciecierski returned to the company in the fall of 1944. He participated in the battle of Iwo Jima, and ultimately survived the war.
