Wesley Clinton was born in Arkansas in March, 1924, to George and Hassie Pearl Cliton. He attended boot camp at MCRD San Diego, and was assigned to Charlie Company as a rifleman on December 11, 1943. Clinton served as a rifleman during the battle of Namur, and in the spring of 1944 was promoted to Private First Class.

Clinton was killed in action on July 8, 1944, as his company fought to clear out one of the last remaining pockets of Japanese resistance. He was twenty years old.

PFC Clinton was buried in Grave 900 of the Fourth Marine Division Cemetery.
