Private Patrick Curran was one of the original members of Charlie Company. He carried a BAR in one of the rifle platoons.
Curran was promoted to Private First Class on January 11, 1943, and fought in the battle of Namur. In the spring of 1944, he gave up the automatic rifle for an M1, and participated in the campaign for the Marianas. Curran was promoted again, to corporal, in the fall of 1944. He landed on Iwo Jima and served there until February 25, 1945, when he was wounded and evacuated to a hospital ship.
Corporal Curran was transferred to a Navy hospital on March 11, 1945. He did not return to combat.
