Joseph Dill joined Charlie Company as a BAR gunner in the fall of 1944.
He was killed in action on the last day of his company's involvment in the battle of Iwo Jima - March 16, 1945. Dill's parents received his Purple Heart and a posthumous Silver Star - both earned at the cost of their son's life.
