John Dwinell was one of the original members of Charlie Company. He served as a riflemand during the battles of Namur, Saipan, and Tinian.
Dull was promoted to corporal in the fall of 1944; and requalified with the Browning Automatic Rifle. He was wounded and evacuated from Iwo Jima on March 7, 1945.
