With Dog Company:
Thomas Enright was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He served as an ammunition carrier in the Third Machine Gun Platon during the battle of Namur.
In Mach, 1944, Enright was transferred to Charlie Company.
With Charlie Company:
PFC Enright became a BAR gunner with one of Charlie Company's rifle platoons. He was wounded on June 22, 1944, when Charlie Company was surrounded and cut off on Saipan's Hill 700. Enright was evacuated to a hospital ship and wound up in the Aiea Heights Naval Hospital on Oahu.
Enright was sent to the Casual Battalion of the division's transfer center; from there, he was posted back to Charlie Company. He rejoined them on February 4, 1945; fifteen days later, he landed on Iwo Jima. Enright fought through the battle and survived unwounded.
