Sequoyah Francis joined the Battalion Headquarters company of 1/24 on February 21, 1944. He had previously served with the Fourth Signal Company.
Francis was transferred to Charlie Company in the spring of 1944.
With Charlie Company:
Francis participated in the battles of Saipan and Tinian as one of Charlie Company's cooks. He transferred out of the battalion in the fall of 1944.
Sequoyah evidently stayed with the Marines after World War II, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant with the Service Battery, 2/12 Marines of the Third Division.
He died in Arkansas in 1995.
