With Dog Company:
Louis Consentino was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He serve with the 81mm mortar platoon as a Heavy Weapons NCO during the battle of Namur, and transferred to the Battalion HQ company in March, 1944.
With HQ Company:
Corporal Consentino became one of the platoon's messengers in the spring of 1944; he was posted with the platoon headquarters and saw action on Saipan and Tinian. Following his promotion to sergeant in the fall of 1944, Consentino was given command of one of the mortar squads. He led them through the battle of Iwo Jima, and survived the war unwounded.
