With Dog Company:
Albert Cota was one of the original members of Dog Company, 24th Marines. He served as an ammunition carrier with the 81mm mortar platoon during the battle of Namur, and transferred to the Battalion HQ company in March, 1944.
With HQ Company:
Cota carried ammunition on Saipan and Tinian; in the fall of 1944, he was advanced to the position of gunner. He participated in the battle of Iwo Jima in the early part of 1945, and survived unwounded.
