Dwyer Duncan joined Headquarters Company, First Battalion on November 17, 1943. He had previously served with the Third Battalion, 24th Marines.

Duncan served as a draftsman with the battalion's Intelligence platoon, and was responsible for preparing and drawing maps based on the reports of the section's scouts. He saw action at the battle of Namur, and was promoted to Private First Class in the spring of 1944.

PFC Duncan participated in the battles of Saipan and Tinian, and transferred out of the battalion in the fall of 1944. His further service is unknown; after his release from the Corps he returned to Oklahoma. Duncan was last known to be living in Edmond.
