Edward Eisenhart joined the Marine Corps in 1942. Originally assigned to Charlie Company, 24th Marines, he was designated as an intelligence observer and transferred to the Battalion Headquarters company.
Eisenhart served with the Intelligence platoon during the battles of Namur and Saipan; he was wounded and evacuated from Saipan on June 17, 1944. His wounds were serious enough to warrant his hospitalization in Hawaii's Naval Hospital #10 in July. Eisenhart did not return to the battalion.
