PFC Stephen Findlay was one of the original members of the Battalion Headquarters company. He served as an intelligence observer during the battles of Namur, Saipan, and Tinian. He was promoted to corporal in the fall of 1944, and may have replaced PFC Dwyer Duncan as the section's draftsman.
Findlay made the landing on Iwo Jima, but was wounded and evacuated on February 25, 1945. He did not return to combat. After the war, Findlay collaborated with Captain Frederic Stott and two other mapmakers on the pamphlet "Saipan Under Fire," published in 1945.
Findlay died in 1975.
