With Dog Company:
Jess Remington joined Dog Company on December 11, 1943; he had just completed training at Camp Elliott. Private Remington served as an ammo carrier with the 81mm mortar platoon during the battle of Namur, and transferred to the battalion's headquarters company in the spring of 1944.
With HQ Company:
Remington was promoted to Private First Class in the spring of 1944, and fought on Saipan and Tinian. He was evacuated from Tinian due to illness on July 26, 1944, but recovered quickly and rejoined the battalion that fall.
PFC Remington made the landing on Iwo Jima, but was wounded on February 20, 1945. He was taken off the island by a hospital ship, and never returned to combat.
Jess Remington died in Oregon in 1999.
