With Dog Company:
Private William Gordon joined Dog Company on December 11, 1943. He had just completed training at MCB San Diego, and served as an ammunition carrier for the 81mm Mortar platoon during the battle of Namur. Gordon was transferred to the battalion headquarters company in March, 1944.
With HQ Company:
Gordon was promoted to Private First Class in the spring of 1944. He continued to serve with the heavy mortars, and participated in the battles of Saipan and Tinian.
Gordon left the battalion in the fall of 1944.
